Women’s Freedom Through Mindfulness: Undoing Internalized Misogyny to Develop Unshakeable Confidence.
FALL 2025, with Mare Chapman and Abby Lindemann
Though we long to be our authentic selves, empowered and confident, as women we unconsciously internalize the misogynistic beliefs embedded on our patriarchal culture. These views damage our sense of self, making it hard to love and validate ourselves, and cause us to look to others and the external world to confirm our worth. This habit of othering creates painful patterns of people-pleasing, perfectionism, over responsibility, conflict avoidance, disconnection from our physical and emotional selves, difficulty with boundaries, as well as chronic self-doubt, anxiety and depression.
Mindfulness offers a path to freedom from these conditioned habits. It connects us to our trustworthy and wise authentic selves. Through practice we cultivate the confidence that being authentic is always enough. This 10-session foundation class, held live over Zoom, is a combination of meditation instruction, brief lecture, practicing together, reflection, and discussion. With the support, wisdom and solidarity of a community of women, each class explores a different aspect of our conditioning and how to apply mindfulness to find freedom from these habits of othering and self-abandonment.
This class is open to all levels of experience, and no previous familiarity with mindfulness is required. For those interested in teaching this course to women in the future, participating in the Foundation Class is a prerequisite.
